Hometown

Let me introduce some interesting things of my hometown

Matsudo City, Chiba Prefecture

Matsudo City is next to Tokyo. It is Tokyo beyond the Edo river. It can be seen by  MapFan Web although it is in Japanese.

Tenjin-An

A part of Matsudo City, Chiba Prefecture. On a scale of 1 to 15,000. In the year 2002.

The above map shows the place of "Tenjin-An" which is introduced here. It is about 15 minutes from Kitakogane Station of Joban railway line which is at the lower right of the map. In the map, we can see famous Hondo-Ji Temple, so called Ajisai Temple.  Ajisai Temple will be introduced at the later occasion because it is famous.

Tenjin-An, around 2001

The above photo is Tenjin-An. Appearance is not so beautiful.  But inside is large and the atmosphere is good for relaxing.  As it were, it is a private city hall.  Here, various entertainments such as meeting of NGO "Earth Village," semiprofessional movies, etc. are held.  The owner is Mr. Katori, my childhood friend.  He is running a unique vegetable store "Shun" which sells natural foods and has a corner where vegetables from farmers are directly sold.

Needless to say, above 2 photos are shell top of old days.  Scene like this can be seen in front of Tenjin-An.  Vegetable store Shun sometimes makes and sells rice cakes.  At that time, we can enjoy shell top like this.

The above two are photos of Higashi-Katsushika-District Junior High School Relay Road Race. While it is allegedly 56th race in 2002, recently, road beside my home is the course of it. People along the course send encouraging applause to runners.

Setsubun (the spring begins on this day according to calendar) of Ajisai Dera Temple (Hondo-Ji)

Also the location of Ajisai Dera Temple (Hondo-Ji) is in the above map where Tenjin-An is shown. Mitsukuni Mito (Mr. Komon Mito in TV) came for hawking and found a small grave of concubine of Ieyasu Tokugawa.. The concubine was, at the same time, the mother of uncle of Mitsukuni. He redecorated it splendidly and the grave still remains as a grave of Mrs. Akiyama. Nobuyoshi, son of Mrs. Akiyama, was, needless to say, a son of Ieyasu Tokugawa . He is said to have ruled Kogane district for a while. Beside these thing, Hondo-Ji is known as a Ajisai Dera Temple with beautiful hydrangea. In the season of hydrangea, many people visit and sometimes staffs from TV station come. Two photos below are the event of Setsubun. Setsubun is held to expel unhappiness and invite happiness.

Around 2 February 2003

Before sprinkling beans on the day of Setsubun, people who act as demons are showing the fighting as entertainment.

Around 2 February 2003

Like this, beans are sprinkled and visitors pick them up. Needless to say, also lotteries, caramels, instant noodles, etc. are sprinkled.
